Ebola Virus Disease in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

New outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo; this outbreak is NOT RELATED to that affecting West Africa (Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria and Senegal).

Till October 7, 2014, 71 EVD cases were diagnosed in the Democratic Republic of the Congo:

31 confirmed cases
26 probable cases
14 suspected cases

Total deaths: 43 (case fatality rate 43/71* 100 = 60.6%)
